Queens Park in the spring is one of our favourite times of the year as the bare, dull and dark days give way to more sunshine and the park begins to wake from it’s winter slumber. With spring comes the promise and hope of lighter days and better weather.

In early spring the trees are still bare but life is slowly starting to return to the park.

Snowdrops begin to appear here and there and “snowdrop valley” by the side of the Sunken Gardens becomes filled with the sight of these beautiful and delicate white flowers. Once they have had their time in the sun then it’s the turn of the daffodils to take the stage and they can be found in the same area as well as many other places in the park.

Spring heralds the return of one of our favourite visitors, the Grey Heron. For the last few years they have returned to Queens Park to nest in the trees on one of the islands of the main lake.

The warmer weather and increasing number of bank holiday weekends makes the park gradually busier and on warm sunny days the park could be heaving with visitors.
